Desert Roots Farm – Policies and Procedures
As a member of the Desert Roots Farm Community Supported Agriculture Program, I am making a commitment to support local farmers and to share in the rewards and the risks of the growing season. CSA is a partnership and commitment between the farm and the consumer.
I understand that my share payment does not guarantee me an exact amount of produce. The quantity and variety of produce you’ll receive in your weekly share depends wholly on what’s growing at the farm and in season. We absolutely stand behind the produce that we grow! If you receive an item that is unacceptable, please call or e-mail within 24 hours of receiving that item to let us know. We will replace the item on the following delivery (pending availability of that item – otherwise, we may replace it with another item of your choosing). Please remember that pesticide-free, home grown produce is not always perfect – and imperfections don’t necessarily mean an item is bad. Finding a little green worm on your produce from time to time or getting carrots that aren’t perfectly straight should assure you that you’re getting authentic home grown, pesticide-free produce.
I understand that my payments are non-refundable. Additionally, our CSA requires its members to commit to at least 6 weeks of deliveries. If you wish to discontinue your deliveries after 6 weeks, you must contact the farm and request that your deliveries be suspended (deliveries will not automatically stop after 6 weeks). I understand that if I am out of town or unable to receive my delivery at any time during the season, I am responsible for contacting a friend or neighbor to gather my delivery (if you are unable to make such arrangements you may log-on to your farm account at least two days prior to delivery and request that we skip your delivery for that week).
I am aware that all produce that I receive in my weekly share should be washed before it is consumed. Any washing done at Desert Roots Farm prior to vegetable distribution is only for the purpose of hydrating and washing the bulk of the dirt and bugs off of the vegetables. All vegetables should be thoroughly washed again prior to consumption.
Additionally, if you will be picking up your vegetables at one of our veggie pick-up spots, you must commit to picking up your vegetables on the given day, at the designated time. Any vegetables shares not picked up within the designated time range, will be considered forfeited and therefore, disposed of – there are no refunds for forfeited shares.
