Desert Roots Farm's
"Weeder" Sheep

By far, the farm chore that I loathe the most is weed-eating
the constantly growing Bermuda grass that plagues our farm's
fencelines.

A few years ago, a friend of mine jokingly said,
"You need a sheep...!"
At first I laughed...but I later found myself giving the idea
some serious thought. Before I knew it, I had four sheep patrolling
our farm's fencelines and eating all the Bermuda grass they could
get their mouths around.

Amos (left) & Andy (right)
These boys do a great job weed-eating our farm's fenceline
and really seem to enjoy their "work". I highly recommend
the use of sheep as an effective, cost efficient and organic
means of weed control.
Ben, Jerry, Amos & Andy are all Brecknock Hill
Miniature Cheviot sheep. All came to our farm
from my good friends at
Desert Wind Ranch
near Casa Grande, Arizona.
