Kelly washes all of the veggies as soon as they
come out of the ground, then packs them in
cool burlap for immediate transport to you…

Last summer's monsoon storms
caused a little damage to the Desert Roots
Farm greenhouse...so, Kelly makes a few minor
repairs before placing seedlings inside for
the spring.

Baby Kale...

This is just a little of the broccoli that
our members enjoy during the winter months.

We grow both sweet and red onions at Desert
Roots Farm...we plant them in October and harvest
them in early May...DELICIOUS!

We start our tomato plants early...in January...
in our greenhouse so that we can make the most
of our short Spring and get a few yummy tomatoes
to our members before the summer heat sets in.

Here are some of our tomato plants that
have just been taken out of the greenhouse
and set into the ground. It won't be long now
before our members are enjoying lots of
yummy, vine-ripened tomatoes.

Here is a glimpse of the delicious, red-ripe
tomatoes that our members enjoy during the late
spring and early summer months.

Okra is a favorite summer veggies of mine...
this Southern veggies is available during our
summer and fall seasons.

EGGPLANT!
We grow a number of small, striped and gourmet
varieties of eggplant.

WATERMELON!
We offer both red and sweet yellow watermelons
during the summer and fall seasons.

Here we have fresh garlic and onions on the
drying rack. Garlic must cure for at least
3 weeks before it's ready to be used. We also
like to cure our onions for about a week before
giving them to our members...this curing gives
the onions a better shelf life.

Adrian is building a bridge across
our irrigation canal with some old lumber
graciously donated by one of our members.

At the farm, we irrigate all of our crops
using syphon hoses. These hoses use suction to
transfer water out of the irrigation canal and
into our crop rows.
